SPARK is funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a program that helps patients decide whether or not they want to take PrEP and provide care and support to those who do decide they want to take it. SPARK staff include researchers, clinicians, counselors, and advocates for high-quality HIV prevention and care services at both the Hunter HIV/AIDS Research Team (HART) and Callen-Lorde Community Health Center.

The Hunter HIV/AIDS Research Team (HART) conducts interdisciplinary, community-based research designed to have a positive impact on the epidemic and lives of those infected and affected by HIV.

Callen-Lorde Community Health Center provides sensitive, quality health care and related services targeted to New York's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities - in all their diversity - regardless of ability to pay.
